ADSORB - Antimicrobial discovery & Biofilm-on-chip

New grant #DIM ELICIT at BIOASTER: Researchers at the BIMOP unit wins a grant for co-development of innovative technologies & methods

More than 80% of human chronic infections are associated with biofilm. Biofilm infections are difficult to treat due to the complexity of the structure and high antibiotic resistance. It is necessary to identify novel molecules to fight biofilm infections as well as novel in vitro biofilm models.

The aim of this project, named #ADSORB (#Antimicrobial discovery and #biofilm-on-chip : from model to therapy), is to set up an innovative #microfluidic platform for controlled bacterial biofilm formation and analysis. Mimicking biofilm biology, this platform will ensure better characterization of biofilm and will be smart mimicking diverse biofilm-associated pathologies. Finally, the microfluidic platform will be applied as a preclinical screening system to validate the anti-biofilm activity of novel drugs.

In partnership with Institut Pasteur.
